Managing Director, Strategic Communications
Ilse is a Managing Director, Strategic Communications. She joined Sodali from Kmart Group, where she was Chief Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Officer and responsible for Corporate Affairs, Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing.
Ilse was previously Head of External Affairs at Shell Australia where she was responsible for strategic communications, policy & advocacy and industry relations for Shell's portfolio of operating assets in Australia across Integrated Gas, Renewables & Energy Solutions, as well as B2B power retailer, Shell Energy, and carbon farming specialist, Select Carbon. In this role, she managed public advocacy for a range of high-profile projects and issues, including the Curtis Island LNG electrification project, east coast domestic gas shortfalls, industrial relations disputes, and hydrogen, offshore wind, CCUS and carbon farming development opportunities.
Ilse grew up on a cattle property in south-eastern South Australia, and previously led investor relations, corporate affairs and sustainability for ASX listed Australian Agricultural Company (AACo), which owns 1% of Australia through its portfolio of stations across Queensland and the Northern Territory.
She led the Shanghai office for strategic communications firm, Brunswick Group, and also served in the Capital Markets team at FTI Consulting (formerly FD Third Person) in Sydney, where she supported a range of clients including Pacific Equity Partners, Affinity Equity Partners and Bain Capital, and their various portfolio companies. Her deal experience includes over US$210 billion in sell-side and buy-side transactions.
Ilse holds a Bachelor of Art, majoring in Chinese and Asian Studies, from the University of Melbourne, and a Master of Cultural Heritage from Deakin University. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
