In an exclusive interview published on November 3rd in the business supplement of Spanish newspaper El País, El País Negocios, Borja Miranda, Managing Director at Morrow Sodali, spoke of the firm’s key mission and purpose: "Our mission is to serve our corporate clients as a point of contact between companies and investors in order to ensure alignment of their interests."
Furthermore, Borja Miranda referred to proxy solicitors as "companies' key advisors" in counteracting the growing power that other third parties have gained in recent years, in this case proxy advisors who are dedicated to recommending to large funds how they should vote at shareholder general meetings.
On the other hand, Borja Miranda explained how the diversification of the share ownership in Spanish listed companies in the past decade had boosted the development of proxy solicitors: "The more dispersed the shareholding, the higher the need for improved and complementary communication channels."
