Vahidi

Matthew Vahidi is a Managing Director at Sodali & Co, where he advises U.S. public companies on corporate governance, shareholder engagement, and strategic narrative development. He brings over a decade of legal, governance, and stewardship experience to clients navigating increasingly complex expectations from institutional investors, proxy advisors, legislators and regulators. Drawing on his background as a corporate lawyer and governance executive, Matt helps boards of directors and management teams address evolving risks and opportunities across corporate governance, executive compensation, capital strategy, shareholder activism and material ESG concerns.

Prior to joining Sodali & Co, Matt was a Managing Director at Joele Frank advising companies in stakeholder engagement. He previously served as Director and Lead Analyst for North American Financial Services at BlackRock Investment Stewardship, where he led engagement with directors and C-suite executives at major banks, insurers, REITs and other financial institutions. His work helped shaped BlackRock’s voting and engagement priorities on corporate governance, strategy, performance and sustainability. Earlier in his career, he served as Assistant Corporate Secretary and Counsel in BlackRock’s Corporate Legal department and held governance roles at Prudential Financial.

He holds a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and a B.A. from New York University.
