The memory of disappointing SPACs experiences, back in 2018 and 2019, is still vivid in Italy, despite rising demand for this kind of investment outside of the country. The new initiatives, like Revo or Industrial Stars of Italy4, are two isolated cases so far.
In this interview with Il Sole 24 Ore, Andrea Di Segni, Morrow Sodali’s Managing Director, remarks that “at this moment Italy is a market for takeover bids and the focus is on direct targets.”
“The feeling is that this instrument is still perceived with distrust by Italian investors and is considered too risky, at least until specific solutions are found that can make it more market-friendly,” observes Di Segni.
