DCC Group, an established marketing and sales FTSE 100 company with extensive operations across Energy, Healthcare, and Technology, has grown significantly over the past five years, particularly in its core Energy business. Given the shifting market landscape, DCC’s Board identified its Energy division as the segment with the most compelling opportunity for long-term shareholder returns. Despite its diversified portfolio, DCC’s Board recognized that the Energy division consistently delivered the highest potential returns and offered the most efficient opportunity to deploy capital. 

And in November 2024, Sodali & Co was engaged to support the launch of a transformative strategy that would reposition the Group to focus exclusively on Energy.

The decision to divest its Healthcare and Technology businesses represented a bold departure from the Group’s historical identity and strategic trajectory. This fundamental shift posed several challenges:

  • Communicating a complex and ambitious strategy in a clear, accessible way.
  • Ensuring internal and external understanding.
  • Managing potential scrutiny and skepticism of the strategy from investors, analysts, and journalists.

Sodali & Co partnered closely with DCC to develop a robust messaging framework that articulated the new strategy's benefits and long-term value creation. This included:

  • Developing tailored communications for internal and external audiences.
  • Leveraging owned channels and media outreach to amplify the strategy’s launch.

The result was a highly successful strategy launch, widely covered in national and international media. The repositioning was perceived as a strategic move by DCC’s leadership to maximize shareholder value, marking one of the most significant milestones in the Group’s history.
